Hot Off the Press: Cara Bristol's Warrior! #Spanking #Sci-fi

Today I'm featuring Cara Bristol's new release, Warrior, which is the third installment of her amazing Breeder series. If you have not read the first two you will want to buy all three right away so that you can go from one to the next without interruption. They are so good that you are not going to want to put them down!

A female fighting for freedom. A male armed with determination. Can they save their people?
As a despotic Qalin marches through Parseon intent on conquering every province, Commander Marlix pledges his sister to another Alpha to protect her. Desperate to decide her own fate, Anika flees and finds refuge with the guerilla resistance movement against Qalin. Marlix’s aide Urazi hunts her down to bring her home to fulfill her duty. But when love blossoms between them, and provinces fall to Qalin, Anika and Urazi realize home has ceased to exist, and they are all that stand between the people of Parseon and the end of the world.

Warrior is the third and final book of the Breeder science fiction romance series, but it can be read as a stand-alone.

Excerpt:

She stared at the bloodied body. “Is Grogan dead?”
Urazi knelt and checked for a pulse against the alpha’s neck. “Yes.” He peered up at her. “Who is he to you? Has he used you?”
“Monto, no!” she gasped, not considering the alpha’s intentions pertinent. “Grogan is the leader of the Guerilla Resistance against Qalin and Artom, which I have joined,” she explained. Urazi’s eyes narrowed, and she added, “Grogan was training me and other breeders to fight.” Breeders could approach a sentry without arousing his suspicion then immobilize him, allowing male guerillas to storm the post and secure it. She thrust back her shoulders with defiant pride. She, a female, was capable of supporting the war effort in a productive way.
Urazi rose to his feet to examine the paper target. “You are an excellent sharpshooter, but winning a battle requires more than skill with a crossbow. You would not fare well in hand-to-hand combat.”
Anika shrugged. “If I have a crossbow, I will not need to engage in hand-to-hand combat.”
“Did it help you today?” Urazi strode to Grogan’s body, and yanked up his bloodied uniform shirt. Attached to the alpha’s nipple was an insignia ring. Urazi unclipped it and carried it over to her.
Anika stared. A single star. Province one. Qalin.
“You have joined with the enemy to strike against your own people? You would betray your Alpha? Your sibling?”
Qalin’s insignia lay in Urazi’s palm, damning, but untrue. So untrue. “No! How could you say that? The Resistance plans to strike against Qalin. Against Artom.”
Urazi tucked the star into his uniform pouch.
“But maybe Grogan is an infiltrator acting alone,” she argued, fighting against the insidious memories; the ease with which she’d been accepted into the camp when her comrades learned of her familiarity with both Marlix’s and Dak’s provinces; Grogan’s constant but subtle questions about locations. He’d asked if she’d ever encountered Marlix himself. At the time, she’d feigned ignorance of the latter, fearing they would send her back to him.
Anika clutched her throat. What if Urazi’s accusation was correct?
“If he were an ordinary alpha or beta, I might concede it possible. But he is—by your account—the leader. I do not believe in coincidence. I have been observing the camp. Neither Marlix nor Dak would have sent females into combat.
“The Resistance you are so proud to be a part of is using you as expendable cannon fodder.”

Cara Bristol continues to evolve, adding new subgenres of erotic romance to her repertoire. She has written spanking romance, contemporary romance, paranormal, and science fiction romance. No matter what the genre, one thing remains constant: her emphasis on character-driven seriously hot erotic stories with sizzling chemistry between the hero and heroine. Cara has lived many places in the United States, but currently lives in Missouri with her husband. She has two grown stepkids. When she’s not writing, she enjoys reading and traveling.

Breeder Release Giveaway & Highlight of Spanking Romance Author, Cara Bristol!

This week I am very excited to be highlighting one of my favorite spanking romance authors, Cara Bristol! Tuesday, October 15th is the release day of her much anticipated sci-fi erotic spanking novel, Breeder. I have to admit I have been salivating for it's release ever since she announced it's possibility in a sneak preview on her blog back in May (which you can see here.) Part of what excites me is that this is so different from what Cara has written thus far. I love sci-fi in this genre because all bets are off. Anything can happen in the world that is created. The author can push things beyond the normal boundaries of any other genre. I am interested to see how far Cara has pushed the envelope in Breeder. From the excerpts I would say pretty far!

Cara is known best for her Rod & Cane series, which is contemporary Domestic Discipline. Cara has built quite a fan base around this series. If you have read any of her other releases you will know that it has become more and more apparent that she can do anything she sets her creative mind to. Cara is a true professional and a true talent in this genre. She is definitely on my must read list! I will be highlighting Cara & her works all week, today through Thursday. Be sure to enter my giveaway contest at the end of each post & come back daily for additional entries!

Cara has been so kind to visit & share with us a little more about her background. I don't know about you, but I love to learn about my favorite authors backgrounds and insights! Without further ado I give the floor to Cara!

I've written professionally my entire adult life (as a journalist and public relations director) and have written fiction on the side for most of my entire adult life. Before writing erotic romance, I’d written mainstream/women’s fiction. I’d sold a couple of stories to major women’s magazines and was working toward putting together a collection of short stories, which I planned to submit to a publisher.

One day I decided to “play,” and over maybe a week or two, wrote a kinky short romance. Intimate Submission was a sexual smorgasbord—a little bit of everything, including spanking. In my own humble, modest way (ahem) I decided the story was good enough to be salable. I submitted it to Black Velvet Seductions for its “spanked wives anthology,” and it was accepted. I wrote a second story, Secret Desires, for the Spanked! anthology as well.

The turning point for me, however, was Unexpected Consequences, about a naïve bride who marries a man who belongs to a secret organization of men who discipline their wives by spanking. The inspiration came from the knowledge that many DD couples hide their practice from their friends and families. The children don’t know that daddy spanks mommy.  I realized I had a series on my hands—that I could tell the stories of the Rod and Cane Society members. Three novellas and a short story have been published by Loose Id: Unexpected Consequences, False Pretenses, Body Politics and Disciplinary Measures (short story). All the Rod and Cane books are written to be read as stand-alones, but the organization changes and grows as the series progresses. The second book, False Pretenses, is actually quite pivotal to the organization, because it changes everything from that point forward. The fifth book, which I’m writing now, will represent another huge change for the organization.

But I don’t only write DD/spanking romances. I have a contemporary erotic romance, Reckless in Moonlight, and two paranormals: A Scent of Longing (vampire) and Destiny’s Chance (reincarnation). The latter does contain erotic spanking.

Breeder is my first sci-fi erotic romance. I decided to write science fiction, because I couldn’t tell the story any other way. It’s a about an alien world that so devalues its females that men partner up with each other. Women are nothing more than “breeder” slaves. One of the planet’s Alpha rulers purchases a breeder to produce his sons and ends up falling in love with her. Their relationship jeopardizes their lives, his rule and the political stability of the planet.

When I first began writing Breeder, I expected it to be heroine Omra’s story (hence the title), but it is as much about hero Dak as it is about her. Dak is a powerful warrior, but he is also somewhat of a “wounded” hero who was betrayed in his past. After he purchases Omra, she causes him to question everything he was taught the world, everything his people believe to be true.

And that’s the premise of the story: we all hold basic, core beliefs we don’t think to question or doubt. We accept these beliefs as true or natural because that’s what we were taught. But what if what we were taught is false?

I intend for Breeder to be a series, I just haven’t decided whether to make it three books or five. My initial thought was a trilogy, but I could write one book for each Alpha of Parseon.

Breeder is my eleventh/twelfth published title, which includes ten stand-alones and two anthologies. (The count is confusing because two of the stand-alones also are included in one of the anthologies). I have two projects under contract and I’m writing the fifth Rod and Cane novel, which will be Liz Davenport’s story. She was a secondary character in Unexpected Consequences and Body Politics.
